"McKinney Falls State Park is a 641-acre park that offers a diverse range of recreational activities, including hunting and hiking. The park ensures over 80 campsites, including built RV sites and hike-in sites. Visitors can also fish and float in Onion Creek. The 28-mile Onion Creek hike and cycling path features a rough surface that is perfect for scooters and road bikes. The state park also offers beautiful views of white-tailed deer, raccoons, armadillos, squirrels, and several species of birds that inhabit the area. McKinney Falls is also an ideal destination for a day trip or a multi-day camping getaway. The state park also features playgrounds, picnic tables, and barbecue grills.

2026 Update: The park is commonly used for camping, hiking, biking, and fishing, and is known for “Old Baldy,” a cypress tree estimated to be more than 500 years old. Admission is free for children aged 12 years and under. McKinney Falls is recognized as a Texas Aquatic Science Certified Field Site. The park offers facilities for group gatherings, including a hall equipped with a full kitchen, outdoor grill, and seating area. Visitors can stay at one of 81 campsites with water and electric hookups or choose from six recently renovated cabins. A primitive camping area is available for youth groups, along with access to designated trails."
