Working with Yuen and TLC Midwife for my third pregnancy was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Even though we had always wanted a third, I immediately began dreading the thought of another year spent navigating the medical system and its impersonal, confusing, and prescriptive approach to pregnancy and childbirth. Even though my previous two pregnancies were healthy and low risk, I always felt like I was treated like a “sick” person — and when it came to birth, I learned I would have to fight hard to protect myself, my wishes, and my baby. I knew this time had to be different, and after talking to my friend who had done a homebirth in another country, I started looking into local homebirth providers. I spoke with a few midwives, but after meeting with Yuen and her team, I knew TLC was my place. My entire experience from prenatal care to birth and postpartum was a dream. Yuen completely reframed and healed my relationship to pregnancy and childbirth. (My first had been a so-called “emergency” c-section due to the standard cascade of interventions, and my second was a hard fought for hospital VBAC). With TLC, for the first time I was able to experience pregnancy and birth with joy, and as a spiritual and special time. Through it all, I felt incredibly cared for… more so than my other pregnancies. It was the only pregnancy where I didn’t have anxiety, probably because Yuen was so thorough and attentive (both medically and emotionally) and she even helped me to lean into my own intuition and instinct.

Yuen and her team brought so much joy and steady, confident care to our baby's birth. My partner and I have now welcomed three children into our family. Two were born in hospitals, and the third came at home with Yuen's and her team's help. The differences in care and outcomes were stunning, and the home birth was by far our best birthing experience. From detailed preparation to our baby's smooth, beautiful arrival and my partner's swift recovery, TLC guided us through it all. We're extremely grateful!

In addition to midwifery services, TLC also offers great care to women of all ages. I am past my child-bearing years and appreciate being able to visit for annual check ups and other gynecological care and my daughter has also had her annuals there. Yuen and her staff have always been incredibly warm, caring, relaxed, friendly, professional, accommodating, and knowledgeable. Thanks for such consistently great experiences, it’s not always so easy to find!

From the very beginning, I knew I was in good hands with Stephanie and Alice. Not only are they incredible lactation consultants, but as experienced midwives and doulas, they are supportive, patient and knowledgeable teachers and experts. Their excellent breastfeeding class helped us establish a strong foundation for breastfeeding essentials and prep - highly, highly recommend for expectant parents who plan to try breastfeeding. We moved ahead with them as our lactation consultants because their class and teaching style were clear, practical and informative. Our lactation consultations helped us navigate nursing (ups and downs with tips, strategies and plans), baby's growth, recovery and beyond. Stephanie and Alice were always professional and communicative - readily available to answer questions and concerns with a wealth of knowledge and resources. Most of all, they were compassionate, supportive and empathetic, which is so important during postpartum recovery and really all stages of breastfeeding. I can't recommend and thank them enough!

I worked with Stephanie and Alice earlier this year for the birth of our son and I cannot recommend them enough! They’re incredibly knowledgeable about everything from delivery to postpartum care and are always available to answer any type of question, big or small. Stephanie was with us during the day of our delivery and it was so comforting to have her there, helping us navigate the various options and be our number one advocate. We also worked with her after the delivery and in some ways, that was even more helpful than the delivery itself, as recovering and breastfeeding are both hard to navigate.
