CENTRAL PARK MIDWIFERY REVIEWS
An absolute dream from start to finish. I can’t recommend CPM enough. Long prenatal visits that were never rushed, all of my questions always answered. The birth was my dream labor. Never pushed to do things I didn’t want to do, encouraged to be in positions that felt good, gentle guidance to make things easier, all of my wishes respected. It was the best day of my life to date. The postpartum support has also been incredible - they check in via text every few days and are always offering helpful advice and sometimes just validating my feelings. I feel like all three midwives are friends of mine now. I know I couldn’t have found these personal relationships in a traditional OB office and I’m so happy with my choice. Actually I’m switching to them to do my annual gynecological visits now! We looked into other midwifery services, especially Oula and found this: CPM offers personal relationships that Oula simply cannot. Oula is backed by investors and is a startup. CPM is midwife run - they don't have investors to please and their service is based on what's best for their patients. ALSO with Oula, we didn't like that you will not necessarily know the midwife delivering your baby. With CPM, we got to know all three midwives throughout our pregnancy so by the time we delivered, we knew all three very well. If you're debating between the two, there's really no comparison.
actually existed. From the start, they were welcoming and took such good care of me throughout my pregnancies. When my first one ended in a miscarriage, the care, support, kindness, and check-ins they provided were truly unmatched - and when I got pregnant again, they not only took care of me, but celebrated with me. They answered questions, were patient, and were so knowledgable. They made sure that I was fully informed on every decision that I had to make, helped me develop intuition about my body, and helped me make the best choices for myself and my baby. Although my birth experience ended in an unplanned C-Section, Elaine never left my side for a second and was such a support for both myself and my husband. And their care didn't stop postpartum - Christina visited me on the maternity floor, I received check-ins from everyone, and just felt so supported during this period of adjustment. We can't wait to come back to CPM for our future pregnancies. Thank you endlessly Jenna, Christina, and Elaine - you showed me a level of compassion that I didn't know existed in medicine. You are appreciated more than you know!!!
When my wife came to me and told me that she wanted to establish care with Central Park Midwifery, she thought I would be hesitant. She was not wrong–I did not fully understand what a midwifery could offer that an OB could not. Ultimately, I wanted to make sure my wife was comfortable, secure, and confident in her birthing team, so I agreed. Entrusting Central Park Midwifery was the best decision we could have made for my wife, my child, and myself. Before our most recent childbearing experience, my wife and I suffered a miscarriage. It was early in the pregnancy, but it did not minimize the pain that we felt and still continue to feel. The one shining light of that experience was that Elaine, Jenna, and Christina were there for us every step of the way. When we were fortunate enough to get pregnant again, they were always cognoscente of what we had been through and understood when we had extra concerns or worries. As the pregnancy progressed, I was constantly amazed at the level of care and communication that the midwives had directly with my wife. When we finally reached the end of the pregnancy, no one could prepare us for what we went through. Throughout the pregnancy, my wife constantly communicated that she was willing to do whatever was necessary to make sure our baby was delivered safely. The only thing she requested was that I would be by her side throughout. After 13 hours of labor, everything was progressing nicely. Then Elaine noticed that our baby’s heartbeat was dropping. While she was explaining this to us, and possible reasons as to why, the rest of the hospital staff was preparing my wife for an emergency C-Section. No one can prepare you for seeing that many hospital staffers rushing to your wife’s bedside. Elaine calmly explained what was happening and what was to happen next. She explained that my wife had to be brought to the operating room so that they could prepare her for the surgery. Ultimately, I would not be allowed in while this was happening. I was devastated. At the same time, they asked me to step outside the hospital room so that they could move her, and a flood of emotion came over me. I was brought to tears. I could not adhere to the one request that my wife asked of me in her birth preferences. Elaine immediately noticed my fear and sadness (even through masking). She told me to take a few deep breaths and know that the doctors were just prepping my wife, and that I’d be able to be by her side when our baby came into the world. While I just briefly described how Elaine helped me, words could never do enough justice to fully articulate how helpful and calming she was in what were the most traumatic minutes of my life. I cannot thank Central Park Midwifery enough for all their help, love, and support they showed my wife, myself, and our baby! He is doing incredible and is the absolute light of our lives! If any prospective fathers/partners are hesitant about midwiferies and would like to talk to me, I am happy to!

BROOKLYN BIRTHING CENTER REVIEWS
BBC gave me the opportunity to have my dream water birth covered by my state insurance, and there is no other birthing center offering this in the tri state area. The midwives are all very sweet and accommodating - i was disappointed i wasn’t able to choose who i was most comfortable with to assist me during the actual birth, but everyone is knowledgeable and kind. BBC was also very accommodating while I travelled abroad for my job - as long as I called to confirm i would be out if town i never had issues rescheduling. Even last minute one time after i missed my flight. overall, i feel very lucky to have been able to birth here.
I gave birth on March 29th. I had an amazing experience. I wanted a private birth. There wasn’t anyone else giving birth at the time so I felt like my birth was a very intimate moment. The midwives were so attentive to my needs and my pain. It all depends on who’s on schedule during your birth but I got lucky and happened to get the midwife I was comfortable with. I can honestly say I couldn’t have given birth without her support. They motivated me even when I felt like giving up. Birth was a painful experience. As a first time mom, I didn’t really know what I was getting myself into. I was scared but they were with me the whole time. I can’t speak upon other’s experience but I had a memorable experience. Giving birth is not for the weak. Women are strong beings. Trust your body and trust your team.
I went to BBC for my prenatal care and delivery for my first child, and I am thrilled with the whole experience. I saw midwife Margaret Cole for the vast majority of my prenatal appointments, she always took the time to answer all of my questions and appointments never felt rushed. I also saw Carolyn Spurlock one time, she was lovely as well and I liked her a lot. I was so happy they were both at my birth, along with Dr. Viv who I hadn't met before I delivered but she was great, she had a very calming presence through my contractions. Margaret and Carolyn were so encouraging while I pushed (for a very long time!), and they helped me have the natural birth I was hoping for. At my first appointment I was recommended the Ina May Gaskin Guide to Midwifery book, and I definitely recommend anyone considering an all natural child birth at a place like the birthing center read that book, and take natural childbirth classes so you know what you're getting into. Being mentally prepared for the experience was very necessary, and something that no midwives can do for you. If you have a healthy normal pregnancy and no complications during labor, delivering at BBC is ideal. It did not feel like a hospital or medical setting at all, my husband was able to be on the large bed next to me the entire time to support me, and I was free to move around and change positions as I wanted to help the delivery process. It was overall a wonderful experience and I would definitely trust them to deliver my future babies.

THE NEW YORK BABY REVIEWS
Working with Stephanie and Alice was maybe the best choice I made for my pregnancy/ delivery plan. As soon as I spoke with Stephanie I knew I wanted her expertise and guidance for this journey. This was my first child so I was nervous and had a lot of questions during my pregnancy. Whenever I needed them they made themselves available for me. They always made me feel calm and confident after speaking with them. Their main goal was to understand my ideal delivery plan so they could support me any way they could when they time came. During my labor Stephanie and Alice were both immediately available and were supporting and guiding me from the start. During my labor and delivery Stephanie was right by my side helping in any way that she could whether that was massage, tens machine or encouraging words. She was so familiar with my birth plan that when I literally couldn’t speak she advised the doctors what I couldn’t and advocated for me. During my delivery she worked closely with my OB and I truly felt like I had the absolute best team. Postpartum I had issues with my baby latching and within one visit she solved the issue. They also have amazing references for any additional resources you may need during or after pregnancy including chiropractic, acupuncture, pediatrician and more. I could not recommend Stephanie and Alice enough, I would love to work with them again in the future.
I was pretty sure that I would love to have Stephanie and Alice in my birth team for my second child. I had given birth with the support of my husband three years ago, but this time we decided that my husband would stay with our toddler and I wanted to be supported during labor. Stephanie had already been my lactation consultant after my first birth: I loved her reassuring and informative approach and thanks to her guidance I had a positive and long breastfeeding experience. That's why Stephanie and Alice were my first choice! They were always responsive during my pregnancy and I loved their preggie guide and all their information about pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding. When labor started, Alice was on call. Thanks to Alice and her brave support, her loving and kind care and her always positive and encouraging presence I had a grounded, focused and empowering birth experience. Stephanie's and Alice's postpartum care is super responsive, informative and reassuring - thanks to their support I felt always calm and empowered! I highly recommend both Stephanie and Alice - they are an amazing team offering empowering and personal doula support during pregnancy, birth and postpartum!
From the initial introduction to Stephanie and Alice, my husband and I were filled with confidence in their professionalism and expertise, and immediately felt at ease after our discussion with them. It is clear that both Stephanie and Alice have a wealth of experience, which brings with it an ability to help their clients feel confident about the labour and birth process. In addition to their professionalism and knowledge, Stephanie and Alice also brought warmth, kindness and compassion, and we truly felt we could trust them and rely on them in the vulnerable and intimate moments of pregnancy and birth. In the weeks leading up to the birth, Stephanie and Alice were very responsive and helped provide support on any questions we had, which was particularly valuable as first time parents. We would have been very comfortable with either Stephanie or Alice being present at the birth, in our case, it was Stephanie who was on call. After the birth, I described Stephanie to my husband as our angel - as it felt that she magically appeared and blended in, giving just the right level of support and guidance, without being overbearing or intrusive. Her presence felt very natural and she completely put myself and my husband at ease, as well as being respected by the hospital staff. We had a wonderful unmedicated birth experience which was everything I could have wished for, and I believe Stephanie was absolutely key to this. Stephanie stayed after the birth to help establish breastfeeding, which really helped set us up for success with feeding, and having her there to help with this immediately after the birth was invaluable. After our son was born, Stephanie continued to check in with us, and we felt extremely well looked after. The postpartum visit allowed us to ask any questions we had, and it was very reassuring to have Stephanie check up on myself and our son in the comfort of our home. Stephanie is clearly an expert both in caring for mothers in the postpartum period, but also in caring for newborns, and her years of experience meant we felt in very capable hands. A lovely surprise at the postpartum visit was the birth story Stephanie prepared with details of our son's birth, which holds very special memories for us. We were so happy that we chose to work with Stephanie and Alice, and would highly recommend them.
