MOTHERCRAFT MIDWIFERY REVIEWS
Every moment with Kara and her team was perfect. On a deep level I felt seen, respected, safe, heard, and a sense of teamwork. I was way more comfortable giving birth at home than in the hospital setting. Thank you Mothercraft!!
Kara is a human being that makes you feel seen and heard, unconditionally. Midwifery care is innately a very intimate relationship. What distinguishes Kara from other midwives is her calm, joyful personality, and her intrinsic capacity to nurture mothers. Regularly laughing with your care provider is something I believe all pregnant people should experience! Her love for every single mother and baby she comes in contact with, as well as her own children, radiates from her. Kara's office environment is soothing and welcoming, she accommodates mothers schedules, and she has a vast knowledge from years of experience. I always felt secure and safe in Kara's hands and that my body and baby were important.
I cannot recommend Kara more heartily to any woman wanting compassionate, skillful, personalized, heartfelt, fun and insightful care from a midwife through your pregnancy, labor and post-partum experience. She really helps includes partners as well--so wonderful. A worrier myself, I chose to see her AND as my Obgyn at Kaiser throughout my pregnancy. I can attest that the care, information, insight, and support I received from Kara surpassed anything at the hospital, 100-fold. She's clearly found her calling and we are all the better for it. Kara handled my every concern (and there were a Lot of them) with grace, intelligence and sensitivity; never guiding me into any decisions but encouraging me to understand every option and make my own decisions. She was incredibly attentive, available to discuss anything via email , text or phone, and when she could tell I was losing it a little, or getting scared or emotional about something, she made herself really truly a friend and support. The birth of my son was amazing, I felt held and empowered and safe with her there, helping me and my baby. Despite an unexpected transfer to the hospital, bringing Kara to the hospital made the experience easy and joyful for me. She advocated and was wonderful with all the doctors/nurses--they all walked away impressed. It was Kara's voice that guided me through the labor, particularly the pushing. I knew I was in such good hands. This kind of care for woman's body, experience, and labors is phenomenal and I wish every woman could have it. Kara's abilities, love for, and deep experience in this field is clear. Her calm (and funny) demeanor is also wonderful during such a huge life-transformation process, and I wish every woman who wants a midwife could work with her! Book her. You will absolutely not regret it.

SAN FRANCISCO BIRTH CENTER REVIEWS
The best place to have a normal, caring, and safe birth experience, sidestepping an overly capitalist and dysfunctional healthcare system. As an Aussie living in the Bay Area I found it strange that midwives were not guaranteed to be a part of childbirths in hospitals. The data also shows that the surgeon/nurse combo underwritten by private hospitals’ collective fear of being sued leads to more interference and control of the birth experience than is necessary. My wife and I have had both of our kids at the SF Birth Center and both times the experience has been phenomenal. The midwives truly care about YOU and honoring your preferences. They provide exceptional care during pregnancy and after. They have a brilliant program to walk you through what to expect and connect you with a community who is in the same boat and share the same values. Definitely recommend them!
The perfect middle ground between a hospital birth and home birth, which was exactly what I was looking for. It was all I hoped for and more. The midwives are compassionate, kind, and supportive women who are knowledge and prioritize the health and safety of mom and baby. They’ve had such a profound influence on my family and me as a mother, that I can’t imagine having given birth anywhere else. If you’re curious or unsure, go to an open house and see for yourself.
If I could give the SFBC six stars I would. Every pregnant person should experience the quality of prenatal, birth and postpartum care you receive at the SFBC. Simply the best midwifery care there is in San Francisco.
