I chose to switch to having a home birth at 37 weeks because of financial reasons, and I’m so glad I did for many more reasons. The difference between seeing doctors for most of my prenatal care and Rachel and Brittany was astounding. Both of them were extremely supportive and gave me so much time. They were both available 24/7 to answer questions I had. I also used their recommended doula, Michelle, and she was great too. I was able to create a relaxing environment in my own bedroom for the birth. Michelle thinks this was part of the reason why my active labor and pushing were so quick for a first time mom. Also it was so convenient to have follow up visits in my home because the recovery was so much harder than I expected. I was able to take their advice and mostly stay in bed with my baby for 2 weeks after the birth. Definitely recommend. I plan to ask them to provide care for my next pregnancy in the future.

I am so happy that we chose Rachel and Brittany to work with as our midwives, they were incredible. Throughout the entire process, I felt heard and empowered by them to make informed choices that were right for me and my baby. During our prenatal care sessions, I learned so much about what to expect during labor, how to prepare, and how to better understand the physiological aspects of giving birth. I went in with so much more knowledge than I think I would've received from my OB, I think it vastly improved my experience - I felt armed with information and a personal connection with our care providers. And throughout the birth itself, Rachel and Brittany were amazing - Rachel, our primary midwife, supported me physically through nearly every contraction (of a very long labor), decreasing my pain and keeping me calm and feeling secure. And they both helped me utilize the tools I'd practice in preparation. Finally, they listened to me and helped me achieve the goal I wanted of a safe, happy and positive birth in the comfort of my own home. As a first time mother, who was hoping to have a "natural" childbirth, it was very important to me to work with practitioners who brought holistic values, strong professionalism, and medical expertise to the table. I found that in spades with Rock Creek Midwifery! I had the opportunity to work with Rachel toward the end of my pregnancy, which was also during the early weeks of Covid-19. She helped walk my husband and I through each stage of the process and was a supportive, balanced, and knowledgeable guide as unexpected developments in the pregnancy arose. Having initially worked with-- and been very disappointed by-- a prominent midwife practice and doula agency before finding Rock Creek, I was able to clearly see how Rachel was a cut above the rest-- genuinely caring, sincerely committed to the mission of midwifery, flexible as birth plans changed, and extremely knowledgeable about medicine.
