KATZ'S DELICATESSEN REVIEWS
Do not be intimidated because of the queue, it moves pretty fast. Pastrami sandwich was wonderful. The meat was very tender and had a good balance of saltiness. It is big but if you are hungry, you will be able to finish whole one by yourself. Pickled cucumber and french fries were also very good. The fries feel and taste much less greasy than what they look. The ambiance inside is an experience on itself. I hope to be able to come again even on this short visit to the city. Update: life hack: if you can't decide what to choose or if you come as a big group but also want to save some money. The three meat platter costs only $40 dollars but you get lots of meat, lots of pickles, and lots of bread. Can easily feed 3 people, probably even more. And it is delicious!
As a first timer to NYC, this is one of the must go places in my list. Katz's Deli has been around for over 100 years, serving the same delicious Jewish delis. I ordered half a portion of the famous pastrami sandwich on rye and a bowl of Matzo ball and it was actually good enough to share among 2 people just to have a taste of it (I'm from Asia where I'm used to smaller food portions). The pastrami was very good! Tender and flavourful, and you get to have a taste of it when the cutter is preparing your order, it's part of the experience. The matzo ball was pretty good too, love the clear soup and the soft texture of the matzo ball. Great to warm up my stomach in the morning.
There are very few places that live up to the "hype" and this is one of then. I was pleasantly surprised but it could be because my expectations were low. The sandwich was good! Pastrami was not too salty. The mustard, the pickles, the bread. Perfect! I would recommend this place to all if you're ever in the city.

DEFONTE'S SANDWICH SHOP REVIEWS
Yeah Defonte’s is the real deal. Sure no one behind the counter wears a mask. But the sandwiches. My favorites are the Red Hook Special, the Enzo, and of course anything that has the fried eggplant. The guys are fast and they take good care of you so make sure to tip. Cash only. Get the large sandwich, you’ll be glad you did.
Hands down the best sandwich shop in Brooklyn!!!! The bread is spectacular and if you know sandwiches, the bread makes a huge difference. It’s two places I go for sandwiches, Sal & Chris in Astoria and Defonte’s in Brooklyn! Everything else is trash! Go to the best!!!!
This is the best sandwich shop in the world. I don’t eat meat and I come here and get the fried eggplant hero and they make it perfectly melt in your mouth every Time. The large hero is 17 dollars but honestly it is an amazing value. You could share it easily with four to six people if you just all want a nice solid little sample. It’s huge and very substantial. If you come nyc from anywhere in the world and love fried eggplant or sandwiches you must go out of your way to come here. I’m sure the meat offerings are great too. Pictures is fried eggplant with provolone and broccoli rabe.

POTBELLY SANDWICH SHOP REVIEWS
Amazing subs! Get the wreak, it’s their signature sub with different meats. The place is an old fashion Sandwich shop and have a fast an efficient process to get customers in and out. Right when you walk in through the revolving door you know this is gonna be good and it is. I got the wreak with pickles mayo mustard oil lettuce tomato and it was perfect!! If you want a good New York City sub go to potbelly.
Coming from nj this is honestly the best sandwich shop ive been to in a while. I highly recommend the avo turkey sandwich. All the ingredients are fresh and its doesnt break the bank. They also have salad options so the whole family can eat here. The original size is filling enough. For a sandwich and chips i spent $13.59. Big seating area to enjoy as well. Paid metered parking nearby.
I love their fireball sandwich (meatball plus chili off their underground menu). That and one if their always soft sugar cookies, is a perfect meal. The only downside is that it's a but expensive (upwards of $10 just for the small version of the sandwich) so I can't get it too often, but that just makes those rare times I do a special treat!
