"Cherokee Park features a total area of 409 acres, which has a 2.3-mile scenic loop with separate lanes for automobile traffic and recreational users. The elevation gain of the trail is 393 feet, and this is a loop-type trail. It takes approximately 1 hour and 47 minutes to complete the entire trail. This park also has a 2.4-mile scenic loop that winds through the park's pastoral setting. The park welcomes 500,000 visitors per year, and it is the 69th most popular city park in the United States. The park provides a scenic atmosphere between rolling hills, open meadows, and Beargrass Creek valley woodlands. In the fall, the park displays beautiful colors. Visitors can also enjoy the many challenging climbs; bikers and hikers have access to attractive trail options, and there is plenty of space for dogs and children to play.

"Jefferson Memorial Forest is a nature preserve spanning 6,676 acres of forest that features numerous hiking trails, camping sites, and fishing facilities in a stocked lake. The elevation gain of the trails ranges from 190 to 1,328 feet. This nature haven ensures some fifty types of trees, which include ten species of oaks, and a rich flora of wildflowers and seventeen species of ferns and fern allies. Jefferson Memorial Forest also features a diverse variety of animals, including bobcats, coyotes, red foxes, white-tailed deer, great blue herons, and horned owls. The forest is situated in Kentucky's knobs area, known for its steep wooded slopes that rise nearly 450 feet above the Ohio River Valley. The memorial forest also provides various facilities like a spacious playground, barbecue grills, and picnic tables for the comfort of visitors.

2026 Update: Jefferson Memorial Forest has access to the Wallace Recreation Area, which includes a water fountain, a recreational area, a gift shop, and access to restrooms and more trails with wheelchair-accessible facilities."
