"Rasika Penn Quarter is a modern Indian restaurant that takes its inspiration from an age-old approach to dining. Founded by Ashok Bajaj, the restaurant features Vikram Sunderam as the Group Executive Chef. Chef Sunderam has been a multiple-time nominee for Best Chef Mid-Atlantic by the James Beard Foundation and a “Chef of the Year” candidate for the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington. Rasika Penn Quarter is a polished restaurant and lounge serving contemporary Indian cuisine, along with a carefully curated selection of cocktails and wines. Their mission is to enhance your dining experience, and their sommelier is happy to suggest the ideal wine pairings for your chosen dishes. The restaurant embraces a communal dining philosophy, encouraging guests to choose a variety of appetizers and entrées to share with their companions. Gift cards are also available. Rasika also has another location, Rasika West End.

2026 Update: They offer vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. They were featured in the D.C. Restaurant Hall of Fame and the Washington Post in 2018, and were also included in Tom Sietsema’s 2019 Fall Dining Guide. Rasika Penn Quarter has space for private functions, including intimate gatherings and large receptions. Their private dining room has a seat facility for 14 people, and for large groups can accommodate up to 200 people. Valet parking is available from 5 PM onwards."

A friend recommended this place, and I’m so glad they did! I sat at the kitchen counter, and watching the chef in action was a treat—their skills and attention to cleanliness were truly impressive. My meal was absolutely delicious, and despite a busy atmosphere, the service was quick and attentive. The staff made sure I never waited for anything, and I felt genuinely well taken care of. For dessert, I tried the rose rasmalai. While the flavor was spectacular, I would have preferred a softer texture. Still, it was such a delightful ending to the meal that I can't really complain. I’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend this spot to anyone!

Amazing butter chicken and the tandoori chicken were absolutely delicious. The butter chicken comes with rice but we ordered naan with it as well. I got a non-alcoholic mango drink, which was perfect. Before all that, we started off with the Palak Chat, which I had to stop myself from eating too much to save room for the main entrée. We got the rose rasmalai to finish off, which was a little too sweet for me and I'd probablyopt for something else. Also, our server was great and didn't rush us at all which helped make the evening.

Loved the inventive Indian cuisine, especially the palak chaat and the cod fish. Save space for desserts because they are sinfully good, especially the apple jalebi. Service is attentive and friendly!

I was here for my birthday with a friend, and we had a great time. This is the only place in DC with South Indian food (beyond idli & dosa) as far as I know, and the food was excellent. We had the chettinad chicken and malabar fish curry with appams. They als have really interesting drinks! The service was exceptional and we would recommend this place to everyone.

A dreamy delicious experience! The food, especially the samosa chat, but really all of the food, packed a huge punch flavor wise. I also found the service to be superb- the wait staff were all extremely pleasant and elegant. It felt like an upscale dining experience, food presentation and quality of service wise, all while being affordable!

Loved their bhelpuri, tried their idli sambar and dosa recently and enjoyed both. The service is prompt and friendly. The drinks and appetizers are very well priced!

It is one of the best fine dining Indian restaurants at DC. We had dinner for my birthday and everything was great. The ambiance and service are superb, but some of the food items were bland. The dahi puri chat was good. The vegetarian thali was superb. The fish curry was sour, and the okra fry was ok. It needed some seasoning. We ordered Rabdi as dessert and it was very delicious. They also brought me a birthday sorbet glass. We enjoyed our dinner and had a great time. I definitely recommend this restaurant for a great dining experience.

Amazing dinner at Bombay Club. The food was the best authentic Indian food we’d ever had. Service was great and our server was very helpful answering questions etc. highly recommend.

Spectacular food and incredible staff! Waiters give great recommendations and are super friendly. We ordered 2 thalis and they were undoubtedly the best Indian food in DC. Highly recommend the crispy kale chaat appetizer. It is also a bit more upscale and formal dress, overall a great vibe.
