First United Methodist Co-Op Preschool is one of the oldest and most significant preschools in Fort Collins. The preschool was established in 1965. Ali Gessler is the Director of the preschool. The preschool has provided a high-quality, nurturing, professional program for over fifty years. They strive to create an atmosphere of stimulation, opportunity, and discovery through curriculum planning. The preschool will enroll children in the program based on age level and the choice of class days during the week. Their maximum class size is 18 for the Pre-Kindergarten classrooms and 16 for the Preschool classrooms. They have a teacher and two parent helpers in each class daily to maintain their adult-to-child ratio of 1:6. First United Methodist Co-Op Preschool conducts tours. The curriculum integrated with a hands-on, interactive, and child-directed approach encourages a love of learning and a curiosity about the world and future success in school and life. Children have options to learn pre-math through measuring, sorting, and counting songs.
